Poison capsule stashed away in a hollow tooth
To all you evil henchmen out there...
I don't often remember my dreams. Sometimes I even have ideas in my sleep, and wake up in the middle of the night thinking "I need to remember this in the morning, whatever I do!" Then, usually, I fall back asleep and can't remember a damn thing in the morning, except that I was supposed to remember something. I expect this is the same for a lot of folks.
Well, last night I woke up multiple times with the same epiphany. I even contemplated getting out of bed to write it down, but it was chilly, so I didn't. As usual, when I really woke up, I had no recollection of any of this. But a few hours later, on the ride in to my office, it all came back to me. I had been visited by an inspiration, and though the dream that contained it was lost to me, I actually remembered what the big middle-of-the-night fuss was about this time!
You know how evil henchmen and spies and the like always have a poison capsule stashed away in a hollow tooth -- so that when they're captured, they can just bite down on the tooth and commit suicide, to avoid having their secrets tortured out of them? Well my epiphany is this... don't ever do that! Just carry the poison pill with you, in your wallet or something. Don't buy it? Here's my logic, which holds up even in the harsh light of being awake: if the hollow tooth is brittle enough to break when you bite down extra hard, then it is hollow enough to break by accident and kill you prematurely. I've chipped teeth in lots of unplanned ways, and if I had a cyanide-filled tooth, I'd be dead right now. No, seriously!
Anyway, there you have it. Don't hollow out your tooth to install a poison capsule. It seems kind of obvious, in hindsight. But the fact that this little dreamland tidbit managed to stick in my brain, where larger and more sensational ideas have all failed, is why I'm sharing it with you, the world. I think a higher power must have played a role, and perhaps, as the mere vessel of such an important vision, it isn't necessary that I understand or appreciate it, as long as the greater good is served.
